Resurrection of the Word : Introduction & Contents | |||||
by Carlo Suarés In this work Carlo Suarés presents the keys of inspiration to his major books on Qabala. The Ciphcr of Gcncsis and The Song of Songs. Thc Resurrection of thc Word is composed of several books, each the proclamation of a biblical figure, a central allegory; each the imprint of our human predicament, its trappings and transformation. If the "scribe" of this book declares himself now as Jacob, now as Cain, Jonas and Judas, it is no fiction, because these personages live in him. Mahoyael, Isha, the Serpent, Adam: these characters are the archetypes who constitute our inner and outer worlds. Here we find the reinstatement of time, concept and myth as sacred, with the simultaneous destruction of them as things to believe in. The biblical figures which have been banished into the past are brought forth into overwhelming actuality and revealed as living significance. They are projected back into creative consciousness and recover their psychic continuity, revivifying our Judeo-Christian roots. Israel forms the central focus, an identity that can never occur literally, because it is the nexus of birth and death and forever escapes definition, be it racial, political or religious. It is the name assumed by Jacob at the beginning of the beginningless combat, sealing his transcendent unity to God and Creation. The truth of these images, once recognised, will crush the conceptions that enslave our lives through mental projection as selves and societies, and the way will be opened for the birth the true human being.
